2nd Ward

On January 1, 2000 Jacquelyn E. Johnson took her oath of office. In November, 2003, she was re-elected to a second four year term. During the 2003 City Council Session, she served as Chairwoman of the City’s legislative body and as a member of the Board of School Estimate, Personnel Committee and Labor Negotiations Team. She has also served as the Council representative to Joint Meeting and Second River. She is a member of the Second Ward’s Melmore Gardens and Beech Street Block Associations. She is a member of the New Jersey League of Municipalities’ Legislative Committee, the National League of Cities’ Central City Council Economic Development Committee and the East Orange Community Emergency Response Team.

Councilwoman Johnson is a former Assistant Branch Manager for Howard Savings Bank, an Operations Director for the Essex County Division of Employment, former Building Manager for Heritage House and Irvington Gardens. She also served as Chief of Staff to former Assemblyman Willis Edwards III. Presently, Councilwoman Johnson is a Supervisor for Job Training with the Essex County Division of Training and Employment.
