On January 1, 2008, Andrea D. McPhatter took her oath of office to server as 1st Ward councilwoman. Councilwoman McPhatter received an Associate Degree in Business Management from the State University of New York and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Information Systems and Marketing from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. She is a New Jersey licensed Real Estate Agent and New Jersey licensed Life, Accident and Health Insurance Agent. Councilwoman McPhatter has served as an Management Information Technology professional for the Xerox Corporation, American Express, Shearson Lehman Hutton, Me Tech, Incorporated and Howard University. She has also served as a Business Development and Marketing Strategist with the Prudential, Dale Beverage Distributors, Synergy Mortgage and American Home Products. She is currently the Chief Financial Officer/Partner of KLA Landscaping Services and the General Manager of West Orange-based Universal Investments. A First Ward resident for over twelve years, Councilwoman McPhatter is a member of the Midland Avenue Block Association, Board Treasurer for the Neighborhood Child Care Center and President of National Community Outreach. She is a member of Christ Church and served as a member of the Security Ministry. From 2005 until 2007 Councilwoman McPhatter served as the Director of Community Services for the Haitian American Voters Entrepreneurs National.
