Jason Holt, Corporation Counsel

The Corporation Counsel performs the duties of legal advisor to the Mayor, City Council, and all boards and commissions where independent counsel is not designated or required. He has general charge and direction of the legal affairs of the City and prosecutes and defends all actions affecting the interest of the City.

Duties include review of all legal documents, contracts, bonds, deeds, leases and stipulations entered into by the City or to which the City is party to or has an interest in. Renders opinions at the request of the Mayor, City Council or boards, commissions, agencies or committees of the City. Oversees the drafting of all ordinances and resolutions of the City Council and resolutions of boards, commissions, agencies and committees as may be submitted for his review. Drafts proposed legislation on behalf of the City at the director of the Mayor or City Council. Appears on behalf of the city at court proceedings, hearings, conferences or other administrative proceedings, and also appears on behalf of any board, commission, agency or committee directly involved in and party to any such hearing or proceeding. He makes all tax foreclosures and searches of title required by the City or by any board, commission, agency or committee thereof and certifies to the same.
