The Department of Finance oversees the financial operations of the city and coordinates financial data and reports generated by the Division of Accounts and Controls, the Division of Tax Collection and Revenue, the Procurement Division and the Division of the Treasury.  This department oversees and directs the fiscal affairs of the city, is responsible for the maintenance of a uniform system of accounting and a complete set of records and for maintaining a system of internal controls to assure that all vouchers and payments approved by him shall be in accordance with law.  The functions performed within the Finance Department consist of:

• Assisting the City Administrator in the preparation of the Municipal Budget
• Maintaining accounts payable
• Short term investment of city funds
• Preparation of bank account reconciliation
• Payment of vendor invoices
• Issuing and payment of debts
• Analysis of monthly budget controls
• Performs internal audits and all other related accounting responsibilities
• Payroll for all municipal employees, including the Library
• Active participant in the city's economic developments
