Fire Prevention is everyone’s responsibility!

w Make sure your smoke alarm is in working order.
w Keep combustible material away from any heat source.
w Safeguard lighters and matches from children.
w Have an escape plan and practice it often.

What is Carbon Monoxide?
Carbon Monoxide is an odorless, colorless, tasteless, and invisible gas produced by burning fossil fuels (gasoline, wood, coal, propane, oil, and natural gas for example).

Why should I have a Carbon Monoxide detector in my home?
Aside from the fact that a Carbon Monoxide detector is required in every home that has an appliance that uses fossil fuels, it adds a level of protection to you and your family.

Where should the detector be placed?

While each manufacturer of the alarm will have instructions on how to place the alarm, the requirement is that they be placed within ten (10) feet of the bedrooms. So multiple detectors may be required if bedrooms are spread throughout the home.
