Our mission is to empower individuals to obtain the services and skills needed to enhance their employment opportunities, providing a job training system that ensures a skilled and productive workforce to support a healthy economy throughout the City of East Orange. To enable East Orange residents who are economically disadvantaged or dislocated and under-employed to obtain unsubsidized employment through the provision of workforce preparation, retraining and job placement. To establish programs to prepare youth and unskilled adults for entry into the labor force.
Employment and Training/Workforce Development represents a comprehensive, holistic employment, training and placement program which works in conjunction with the private sector, educational systems, community-based organizations, and federal and state job training programs.
UNIVERSAL ACCESS
Making basic services available to all customers is a primary goal of the Employment and Training/Workforce Development.
OUR SERVICES
Customers will receive an introduction to services, as well as assistance in completing the required forms to determine eligibility for specific programs offered throughout the Employment and Training/Workforce Development System. They will also be referred to other services offered through our partners.
Services available through the Employment and Training/Workforce Development network include the following: Assistance to employers in need of hiring skilled workers; Orientation; information and/or referrals to jobs, education, and training; Career assessment/counseling; Job search assistance; Job placement assistance; Interview preparation techniques; Referral to, or on-site computer software instruction; Career resource library; Life skills; Labor market information; Transportation services; Telephone room to contact employers; and space for employers to interview participants for job opportunities.
Participants will be referred to "Dress to Kill" - a boutique to provide clothing for job interviews and makeovers (hair, nails, etc.)
