Manager East Orange Economic Development
Division provides several economic development programs including an
Economic Revitalization Program. In addition, the Division provides technical
assistance to businesses.
The Division focuses on fostering the
growth and retention of businesses, providing job opportunities and
establishing a strong tax base.
Initiatives that are being undertaken:

Preparing an action plan to
revitalize and market the significant inventory of vacant
commercial/office space in the City, particularly on Evergreen and
South Harrison Street.

Preparing a "One Stop Shop Guide" to
give to potential developers and entrepreneurs considering
relocation to the City.

Working through local and
neighborhood development organizations to attract funding for
commercial/neighborhood revitalization projects.

Exploring various funding
alternatives for redevelopment projects, including The Essex County
Economic Development Office, New Jersey Economic Authority,
Community Banks and The Greater Newark Business Consortium.

Coordinating and marketing sites that
are appropriate for general types of uses such as back office space,
businesses, light industrial for small manufacturing uses, office
space for high technology uses and shopping center retail use.

Urban Enterprise Zone Program.
