This division's primary goal is to improve the housing stock in the City. Towards that end, the division provides assistance to developers enabling them to construct new and to rehabilitate existing vacant structures into affordable housing units. The division has several state and federally funded programs designed to provide assistance to residents who own one-family homes and those looking to purchase their first home in East Orange. An "Emergency Rehab Program" offers assistance to home owners facing life threatening and/or safety situation in their home. The division also administers the United States Housing and Urban development Program (HUD) and sponsors monthly Home Buyers Workshops. For additional information, call the number above. |
