To be assigned a handicap parking space at one's place of residence, that person, or his/her representative must visit the Department of Public Works with proof of residency and disability.  To obtain a temporary handicap sign for your vehicle, you must contact the Chief of Police at 973-266-5050 for an explanation of the procedure.

...for special permission for overnight parking
For special permission for overnight parking for special occasions, i.e. overnight guest, out of town guests, car trouble, etc. please call the Police Department at 973-266-5000.

The City recently adopted a resolution permitting overnight parking in a limited number of locations throughout the City.  Permits  for the limited number of spaces are sold in advance on a first-come, first-served basis.  Contact the Licensing Division of the Tax Collector's Office at 973-266-5125 for more information.
