The Fourth Annual

“MOJA" YOUTH ARTS FESTIVAL

On Saturday, June 14, 2008 from 10:00am to 5:00pm the Youth 2000 Initiative Program and the Mayor’s Youth Council will host the Fourth Annual City-Wide Youth Arts Festival in Elmwood Park, in celebration of the youth of New Orleans.

The Festival will be a multicultural event celebrating the breadth of the arts in the community and showcasing East Orange’s young people in a positive atmosphere.  It is designed as a free event to reach audiences who might not have the means to attend high price ticketed events presented by the major institutions.  One of the goals of the festival is to celebrate the creative talents of the youth of East Orange.  In honor of the youth and children in New Orleans, the colors for the Festival are green, gold and purple.

The theme of the Youth Arts Festival is “Moja”, Swahili word meaning “one”.  One Family, One Community, Many Voices…Rediscover the Village…East Orange.  “Moja”, an appropriate theme for the festival, will promote the celebration of harmony and diversity among all people in our community.

The City of East Orange, the “Moja” Youth Arts Festival invites you to participate in the Arts & Crafts Market of the Festival.

The Arts & Crafts Market is an opportunity for Local Artist to display and sell their quality original and self made artworks.  Our market will include basket making, ceramics, pottery, fabric painting, children books, sculpture, painting, textiles wood and specialty.  Works displayed and sold must be appropriate for a family audience.

An application fee of $112.00 must be submitted for vendoring in City Parks all vendors interested in participating in the Arts & Crafts Market must submit an application and example of goods to be sold.
