EAST ORANGE…
The City’s Treasurer has retired after a stellar 35-year career in public service in East Orange.

Linda Munro, the first African-American Chief Financial Officer who started as an Accountant in 1975, was honored in a celebration sponsored by her peers from the Mayor’s Office and the Finance Department. Approximately 100 staff and personnel were present to honor and bid a fond farewell to a lady who had such a quiet presence, but with a lasting impact.

“To a woman whom I have considered a partner, my sister and my friend, you will be missed,” was the emotional tribute to Ms. Munro by CFO Victoria Walker. A Mayoral proclamation and a resolution from the City Council were presented to Ms. Munro in recognition of her many years of professional and dedicated service.

Ms. Munro worked her way through the ranks as General Accountant, Fiscal Coordinator, Administrative Accountant, Manager of Account and Control, Finance Director, Budget Officer and City Treasurer.
